Grand Canyon Elopement
By just looking at this photograph you might think, “Oh what a beautiful couple.” Behind this beautiful couple is a magnificent story of courage and true character. Though I am sure there is much more to their story than I know of I can tell you that they are the type of people I strive to be like.
I do not know the exact timeline, but years before this bride was in a catastrophic accident leaving her paralyzed. She was told she would never breath on her own, eat on her own, or walk on her own. Through dedication and perseverance, she defied all odds.
How fitting to have their ceremony at the bottom of a treacherous look out point at the Grand Canyon among close family and friends. Never did the bride or groom hesitate, they pushed forward down the rocky trail and out to one of the best views on the planet.
The groom showed nothing but devotion and true compassion to his lovely bride ensuring she was cared for and safe the entire time.
My absolute favorite part of the night….the couple’s first dance.
Being the photographer often gives me an up close seat to all the best moments. This was by far the best one I have had the opportunity of witnessing. They had practiced their first dance knowing that some of the moves were not the easiest for the bride. They gazed into one another’s eyes and very gently the bride said, “Are you ready?” The groom then spun her around slowly. They both had such a look of accomplishment.
Congratulation Mr. & Mrs. Hopkins!
